Volunteers Needed to Help Cleanup the Lake!!
Schedule of Events
9:00 am: Volunteers meet your Team Lead at your meeting point to sign in, and pick up a supply bag and your t-shirt. Please note the t-shirts are only for those volunteers that signed up before 4/26. We will have water and snacks in each bag, as well as trash bags and gloves. If you did not upload your volunteer waiver when signing up online, there will be blank copies available to sign when you check in with your team lead.
9:15 am to 12:00 pm: Volunteers depart the meeting point with their supply bags and head to their access site(s) to help clean up the trash/debris from around the lake.
PLEASE NOTE: For those who may not be able to attend the wrap-up party, or may not want to haul trash in their vehicles over to Meredith, please return the trash bags to your original meeting point no later than 11:45 am to be picked up.
12:15 pm to 12:30 pm: Volunteers are welcome to start arriving at Goodhue Boat Company (31 Lovejoy Sands Rd, Meredith) with their debris for the dumpster. Celebrate all your good work by mixing, mingling, and enjoying BBQ by Good Eatz 603! We will have a free raffle for our volunteers with awesome prizes such as gift certificates to local businesses, beautifully themed baskets, and 2 tickets for the best available seats to the concert of the winner’s choice at the Bank of NH Pavilion.
We are thrilled to come together with you toward one common goal, to Keep Winni Blue! You can call or text the LWA Hotline at 603-581-6632 with questions on the day of the event.
Volunteering for a trash cleanup event is a rewarding and fun experience for all ages, but there are some safety rules and guidelines that everyone should follow to make this event safe and enjoyable for everyone involved. Tick season is upon us! Consider bringing bug spray, wearing appropriate clothing (light-colored/long shirts/pants), and most importantly make sure you do a “tick-check” as soon as you are home!
DO be prepared to participate safely:
- Wear a safety vest (if you have one and are in a high-traffic area)
- Wear closed-toe shoes
- Bring a litter/trash grabber (if you have one)
- Bring a phone or camera to document what you clean up!
- Share to Facebook/Instagram with the hashtag #KeepWinniBlue
DO NOT pick up hazardous items such as:
- Weapons
- Broken Glass
- Closed or sealed buckets/drums
- Medical waste (hazard bags, needles, etc.)
- Dead animals
- ANYTHING that you feel unsafe or uncomfortable handling
