As President of the Lake Winnipesaukee Alliance, Pat works to build the technical and informational resource capacity of the organization, to inform and engage the public on water quality issues, and promote greater collaboration among the numerous agencies, nonprofits, businesses, and communities throughout the watershed to enhance the effectiveness of lake protection programs. For the past 14 years, under Pat’s leadership, the LWA has led the effort to identify threats to Lake Winnipesaukee’s water quality and to develop and implement action plans to mitigate their impacts. Pat has a Master of Science degree in Environmental Science and Policy from Plymouth State University. A resident of Gilford NH, she enjoys every moment out on the lake, hiking in the mountains, or with family and friends.

Joanne is a long-term resident and an advocate for the Lakes Region. Her love for this place began in childhood and blossomed as she built her home in Sandwich, clearing the land with her husband. An avid explorer and kayaker, Joanne has an intimate understanding of the region's beautiful landscapes and waterways. Joanne is well known in the Lakes Region, having worked for the Lakes Region Chamber of Commerce for the last 8 years.  She has a wealth of experience in business development and relationship-building from her time at the Lakes Region Chamber, which will be invaluable in her new role with the LWA. Her focus is on fostering strong community partnerships and expanding support for the LWA's critical mission to protect the lake. Joanne's commitment to public service is undeniable. Serving two terms as a Sandwich Selectman and actively participating in various community organizations showcases her leadership and passion for making a positive impact. When she's not championing the lake's health, you might find Joanne enjoying the outdoors, volunteering, or competing in the annual Sandwich Fair's Skillet Toss. Additionally, she takes pride in being a mom to two adult daughters and an adopter of rescue dogs.

As Conservation Program Manager, Bree's role is to develop, manage, and implement, new and existing programs designed to carry out LWA's mission.  She leads the water quality monitoring, cyanobacteria, and Winni Blue/LakeSmart program as well as several critical nutrient mitigation projects. She participates in the NH LAKES advocacy group to track legislation and is an appointed member of the Wolfeboro Waters committee. Her experience comes from previous employment with NHDES and FLDEP, working with the VLAP, MtBE, source water protection, and water restoration programs. Bree has a B.S. in Environmental Science and Policy with a minor in sustainability from Plymouth State University. A resident of Gilford, Bree enjoys gardening, cooking, and spending time on the lake.  

John Flaherty joins the LWA as its Watershed Management and Restoration Specialist.  Having spent summers on Lake Winnipesaukee, John is eager to preserve the pristine water for future generations.  John will play a key role in working with the communities, businesses, and residents to implement management measures targeting pollution reduction to the lake. John’s past experience working with Finnish farmers to find solutions to managing the wolf problem, and in the Peace Corps in Africa helping farmers establish sustainable fish farming, will serve him well in working with a variety of stakeholders. John has a B.S. in Environmental Science and Sustainability from Northeastern University. He lives in Middleton, NH, where he spent his summers as a kid. His interests include tennis, basketball, hiking, gardening, and being in nature.

Peter is a life sciences investor and executive who is Chairman of NanoImaging Services and Founder of Rise Up Solar. He and his family split their time between Tuftonboro, where they love sailing, kayaking, and swimming; and Cambridge, where they love thinking about sailing, kayaking, and swimming. Peter also serves on the boards of the Lakes Region Conservation Trust and End 68 Hours of Hunger.

Mark Ishkanian had an active 36 yr career in advocacy and public relations, working for Maine’s largest environmental group, Maine’s biggest electric utility, and in a variety of health care companies. He served on the boards of the American Lung Association of Maine, Bicycle Coalition of Maine, Maine Huts and Trails and WinterKids. He and his wife Ginger moved to New Hampshire in 2014 and enjoy sailing, cycling, hiking and chasing after their grandchildren.

Just a poor country boy fortunate enough to spend his youthful summers on the lake, from school out to Labor Day. The lake side camp is still part of the family and continues to provide access to the most amazing lake certainly in New England and perhaps in the country. It has provided immeasurable enjoyment to me, my kids and now the next generation. I have also garnered a living providing construction services to many lakeside homes and hope to provide some of that experience in assisting others with how best to approach lakeside site work. LWA has provided an opportunity to be involved in the stewardship of Lake Winnipesaukee to influence the years ahead in the preservation of the great lake.

Ann Quandt is the Chief Finance and Administration Officer at Upstream USA, a $50M nonprofit, overseeing accounting, finance, legal, data and technology, and facilities. Prior to Upstream, Ann was the Chief Financial Officer at Partners In Health (PIH), a $150 million international healthcare nonprofit based in Boston. At PIH, Ann was responsible for the global finance, accounting, grants management, and IT functions of the organization, spanning 10 countries and 200 health facilities. During her 11 years at PIH, Ann worked to develop a professional finance and accounting function that allowed the organization to more than triple in size and support the work of more than 18,000 PIH staff. Ann also led the creation of a Central Analytics and Applications team, introducing data warehousing as well as a host of valuable tools, including PowerBI, to support the organization globally. Ann is a graduate of Washington and Lee University and Stanford’s Graduate School of Business. Outside of work, Ann enjoys running, tennis, and keeping track of her three children.

Ron Buell is a Senior Technology Executive with over 30 years of experience in the High Tech industry. Starting his career as a Software Engineer he has climbed the ranks to Chief Technology Officer. As a lifelong summer resident of Tuftonboro, he is passionate about all things Lake Winnipesaukee. Serving on the Board of the Lake Winnipesaukee Alliance allows for that passion to translate into active stewardship in preserving the Lake's water quality for future generations. Ron lives with his family in Exeter, NH and enjoys waterskiing, golf, snow skiing, and cooking.
